Outdoor Instructing
My instructing practice is grounded in trust, accessibility, and meaningful engagement with te taiao. I design outdoor experiences that support rangatahi to build confidence and resilience through play, challenge, and connection, without feeling rigid or over-structured. Learning is experiential, relational, and shaped by the people involved, at every age.
I hold a Bachelor of Sustainability and Outdoor Education (Ara Institute of Canterbury) and NZOIA Bush 1 and Rock 1 awards, and am currently completing a Master of Sport, Exercise and Health at Auckland University of Technology.
Rock Climbing & Abseiling
Sessions are grounded in clear technical systems, trust, and challenge by choice. Emotional safety is prioritised alongside physical risk management, with participants supported to engage at their own pace.
Flat Water Kayaking
Flat water kayaking is used as a platform for confidence-building, teamwork, and connection with te taiao. Sessions are structured to feel calm, playful, and accessible, with clear systems and shared decision-making.
Bushcraft
Bushcraft experiences centre practical outdoor skills, environmental awareness, and collective care. Learning is hands-on and adaptive, with space for curiosity, creativity, and varied learning styles.
Classroom-based Outdoor Skills
Classroom sessions support skill-building, preparation, and reflection alongside practical experiences. Content is delivered accessibly and flexibly, with a focus on understanding why systems and decisions matter.
Operations & Crisis Management
I bring experience in operational planning, risk management, and crisis response within outdoor and youth contexts. This includes clear communication, calm decision-making, and working within established safety management systems.
Child Protection & Duty of Care
All facilitation is grounded in strong child protection practices and clear professional boundaries. I work in alignment with organisational policies and provide recommendations for updates or improvements where needed, ensuring rangatahi feel safe, respected, and supported at all times.
